Ambassador Shahid A. Kamal
Ambassador Kamal is Adviser (Climate Change) at the OIC (Organization Islamic Organization) Ministerial Standing Committee for Scientific & Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH). Ambassador Kamal is founder of COMSTECH Forum on Environment and Ecosystem Restoration. He organized a seminar on ‘Solutions to Combating Flood Insecurity and Malnutrition in the Sahel”.at the Science Summit during 77 session of UNGA and an international training workshop on " Addressing the Challenges to Food Security in Sahel" at the AGRHYMET Regional Centre in Niamey, Niger in May 2023.
Ambassador Kamal has been a career diplomat of Pakistan and served as Ambassador to Germany, Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia. He was Additional Foreign Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senior Aide on Foreign Affairs in the Prime Minister’s Office and worked at the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations in New York and diplomatic missions in Paris, New York, Washington. He served as Head of the Political Department at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Ambassador Kamal founded the COMSTATS Centre for Climate and Sustainability (CCCS)-virtual network to focus on climate change and sustainable development goals, the Centre for Climate Research & Development (CCRD) at COMSATS University in Islamabad, Pakistan. He was instrumental in establishing the Centre for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) at Institute of Business Administration, Karachi, Pakistan.
He was Consultant to Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for setting up the Science, Technology & Innovation Organization for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He is Senior Fellow at National University of Science and Technology Institute of Policy Studies, Islamabad, Pakistan and a founding Member of the World Dignity University, a project launched by the Human Dignity and Humiliation Studies Network.
Ambassador Kamall is a graduate of University of London, Institut Internationale d’ Administration Publique, Paris and Government College, Lahore, Pakistan.
