Dr. Abhay Gaidhane is a Dean at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research Wardha. He completed his MBBS in 1996 and MD in Preventive and Social Medicine in 2002. He is also an Honorary Director of the School of Epidemiology and Public Health and a Professor of Community Medicine. He is currently the Chair of the Bioethics Unit at the university, under the International Network of Chair of Bioethics, and Convener of the Research Mentorship program. Dr. Abhay Gaidhane published over 180 papers in peer-reviewed journals, books, and chapters. Dr. Abhay Gaidhane has been awarded three international fellowships, which include the Public Health Field Leader Fellowship of CDC, USA, in 2009; Australian Leadership Award Fellowship, University of Sydney, 2010; Fellowship in Policy and Qualitative Research at the School of Public Health, the University of Sydney in 2014. He served as lead trainer for many state and national-level workshops. He is a Member of the South Asia Infant Feeding Research Network. He has organized nearly 250 training for faculties, doctoral scholars, students, and NGOs, with wide-ranging topics like research methodology, data analysis, Quality assurance, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Leadership and management, monitoring, and evaluation. Dr. Abhay received seven grant awards for research projects from Grand Challenges Canada, the Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India; ICMR; the Ministry of Health, Family Welfare; NACO; Porticus and USAID. He has two innovation patents. He is a Director of a Startup ‘Avishkar Lab’ and is on the Section 8 Company – ‘ITE Research Foundation’ Board of Directors in India.
