About me
Born and raised in Swansea, after gaining a degree in Social Policy, Carolyn worked in the charity sector before becoming Parliamentary Assistant to Sian James MP.
In May 2015, she was elected MP for Swansea East and was reelected in both the 2017 and 2019 elections. Following boundary changes, Carolyn was elected as MP for Neath and Swansea East on 4 July 2024.
In April 2018 she became the first Deputy Leader of Welsh Labour. Carolyn has previously held many Shadow Frontbench roles. She now sits as a backbencher in Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Government, using her platform to campaign successfully on issues such as the Children’s Funeral Fund, reducing gambling harm, menopause support and the elimination of food poverty.
