About me
Aris Papageorghiou is a Professor of Fetal Medicine at both the University of Oxford and St George’s Hospital in London. He also serves as the Research Director at the Oxford Maternal and Perinatal Health Institute and chairs the WHO Maternal Perinatal Health Guidelines Technical Advisory Group and Editor-in-Chief of BJOG. He is a co-founder of Intelligent Ultrasound, integrating his extensive clinical and research expertise in maternal and perinatal health into pioneering artificial intelligence applications in medical imaging. Papageorghiou also founded www.scan.academy to provide accessible education during the pandemic. His prolific research career is focussed on maternal, fetal and perinatal health using diverse methods, including clinical epidemiology, trials, data synthesis and implementation science; he has over 475 published articles, an h-index of 92. He currently runs large global projects in low resource settings using ultrasound, biomarkers and clinical methods to improve phenotyping and outcomes. He has been honoured with numerous prestigious awards, such as a Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Athens and holds several editorial and advisory board positions.
