ARUNIMA IS AN AWARD-WINNING INNOVATOR, RESEARCHER, AND ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVIST WHOSE MULTIDISCIPLINARY WORK TO ADDRESS GLOBAL CHALLENGES SPANS ENVIRONMENTAL AND
CLIMATE SCIENCE, JUSTICE, AND ACTION.
Arunima’s solutions include an energy-efficient building design with a minimal carbon footprint, using AI to detect plastic debris from remote sensing and satellite imagery, and a data-driven intervention model to combat malnutrition in India, among other innovations. Arunima’s activism includes deep involvement with organizations like Earth Guardians and Stop The Money Pipeline, where she’s identified gaps between science and policy, helped train youth leaders worldwide to support on-the-ground actions, organized intersectional, dynamic workshops on climate justice, and led dialogues at Imperial College London. She’s also collaborated with youth organizations to draft a platform of demands for restorative and regenerative solutions for reparations in BIPOC
Communities. Arunima’s extensive work with diverse communities across continents has deepened her belief in the power of grassroots engagement. Arunima received India’s highest civilian award for youth in innovation from the President and Prime Minister and was named a 2022 Audi Environmental Foundation Scholar. Recently awarded a prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship by the European Union, she will pursue a Master’s Degree in Digital Earth, embodying the ideal of using scientific expertise to benefit both the environment and its people. Her ultimate goal is to empower communities to build resilience and address the root causes of the climate crisis.
