About me
Dr. David Battaglia is a Supervisory Research Physical Scientist and Team Lead for the Functional Materials Team at the US Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL). At NETL David leads a team dedicated to developing new materials, sensors, and processes for enhancing commercial energy applications. This work focuses on reducing and utilizing greenhouse gas emissions while enhancing existing energy infrastructure. At this position he also works towards identifying and forging partnerships with commercial entities for transitioning technology to pilot scale/field demonstrations and commercial integration.
Prior to joining NETL David worked for over 18 years with multiple small businesses developing new technologies through applied research and development capable of enhancing and solving relevant issues in industry. His areas of focus encapsulated technologies surrounding the development of nanomaterials/nanocomposites, gas separation and absorption media and systems, plasma systems, water purification and remediation, as well as additive manufacturing processes and feedstocks. Furthermore, he has managed, coordinated, and actively lead teams working on the development of novel nanomaterials and nanocomposite formulations as well as applications based on these nanomaterials and nanocomposites, funded by the DOD, NIH, EPA, and NSF involving collaborative work between academia and industrial partners.
