About me
Dr. Spencer is an Infectious Disease Physician Scientist at the University of California San Diego where is a Professor of Medicine and Design and directs the Center for Health Design. Dr. Spencer’s research focuses on diagnostic and informatic solutions that distribute and democratize healthcare to the point of need. Currently he leads the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA) funded Resilient Shield, a public-academic partnership to employ modeling and analytics to protect and prepare communities against infectious disease threats. He is the co-PI for the NIH Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics RADx-radical Discoveries and Diagnostics Coordinating Center. Dr. Spencer has extensive field research and expertise with projects and deployments from California to Kentucky, Mexico, Haiti, Colombia, Brazil, Venezuela, Uganda, Mozambique and South Africa. Dr. Spencer Received his MD and PhD in Biophysics from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his Infectious Disease and Informatics training at UC San Diego.
