About me
Hamisi is a young global health leader trained as a pharmacist with a master's degree in global health. His passion lies in utilizing integrated and holistic approaches to address global health issues, aiming to build strong, resilient, and adaptive health systems. He serves as the Director of One Health Society Tanzania, an NGO that champions the One Health approach to tackle global health challenges, particularly antimicrobial resistance (AMR), zoonotic diseases, and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) through policy advocacy, capacity development, and community engagement.
He spearheaded the establishment of the Tanzania Parliamentarian Alliance for AMR and currently chairs the secretariat that trains and empowers Members of Parliament in this alliance to advocate for sustainable policy interventions. Hamisi participated in the review of Tanzania's National Master Plan for NTDs (2021–2026), the implementation of the National One Health Strategic Plan (2022–2027), and the National Action Plan for AMR. As a member of the Network for Evaluation of One Health (NEOH), he co-authored a chapter focusing on One Health governance in a textbook scheduled for publication this year.
