Dr. Laura Sanchez is a research scientist at the Deutsches Geodätisches Forschungsinstitut (DGFI-TUM) of the Technische Universität München, Germany. She holds a doctor degree in Geodesy from the Technische Universität Dresden, Germany. Her research interests include vertical datum unification, global height reference systems, GNSS-based regional reference frames, and surface kinematics monitoring. She is the current president of the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG). From 2007 to 2015, she was Vice-President of the Geodetic Reference System for the Americas – SIRGAS. Since 2010, she has been in charge of the Regional Network Associate Analysis Centre for SIRGAS of the International GNSS Service IGS), and since 2015, she has been a member of the SIRGAS Scientific Council. She is an elected IAG Fellow and has been involved in several IAG working and study groups since the 2000s.
