About me
Miriam is the North American Senior Executive Editor at The Lancet, based in New York City since March 2020. Prior to The Lancet, Miriam was in Geneva, Switzerland where she has worked in senior advisor and epidemiologist positions at WHO, UNAIDS and The Global Fund. Miriam served as a “Disease Detective” in the CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) and was a Senior Research Scientist, United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps Officer in the CDC Division of Global HIV & TB and the Division of Viral Hepatitis, respectively, before moving to Geneva in 2008. Miriam has also lived in Tunisia, Bangladesh, Denmark, Brazil and the Middle East and has provided technical assistance, worldwide. Miriam holds a PhD from the University of Georgia, a MS from Columbia University and a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
