About me
Elina Mukhametshina, MD, completed her residency training in General Psychiatry and Narcology at Kazan State Medical University, where she was awarded a special regional scholarship for young psychiatrists for outstanding clinical performance. During her residency, she undertook a global health elective in the Department of Psychiatry at a public hospital in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, which sparked her journey in Global Health.Dr. Mukhametshina has always been actively involved in international work and values collaboration to improve medical education and healthcare. She began her career in medical education as the National Research Exchange Officer for the Tatarstan Medical Students Association (TaMSA-Tatarstan), organizing research exchanges in more than 20 countries worldwide. She later became the President of the Tatarstan Medical Students Association and represented medical students at the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations (IFMSA) general assemblies. She also served as part of the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT) in several committees working towards improving training in psychiatry across Europe.In addition to her international work, Dr. Mukhametshina has been a faculty member teaching general psychiatry courses at her alma mater. Currently, she is the Simulation Center Director and the Introduction to Clinical Medicine course director at the American Canadian School of Medicine in Dominica.
