About me
Prof Mulder heads the Computational Biology Division at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and is co-leading the development of the African network of Genomic Centres of Excellence. She leads H3ABioNet, a Pan African Bioinformatics Network which develops bioinformatics capacity for genomics in African. She co-leads a Sickle Cell Disease Data Coordinating Centre and a Wellcome Trust Centre Data Integration Platform and is PI of the DS-I Africa eLwazi Open Data Science Platform. She has a PhD in Medical Microbiology and worked for 8.5 years at the European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridge, as a Team Leader. Her research focuses on African genome variation and disease, microbial genomics and infectious diseases. Her group provides bioinformatics services and training and develops resources for the analysis of African genomic data. She is actively involved in Bioinformatics training, education and curriculum development and sits on a number of international scientific advisory boards.
