Dr. Daniel Ranga is a psychiatry resident at Makerere University Kampala. He has a strong interest in the intersection of intimate partner violence (IPV) and mental health; as well as child and adolescent psychiatry. His clinical experience and research focus aims at ensuring adequate provision of empathetic and evidence-based care to these vulnerable populations, especially within Sub Saharan Africa. He believes in fostering collaborative care models that integrate mental health professionals with ‘culturally defined’ social workers and legal advocates to create a comprehensive support system for vulnerable populations, within the local context in a sustainable manner.
In addition to his clinical and research pursuits, Dr. Daniel Ranga is actively involved in advocacy efforts to improve mental health services for survivors of IPV. He is dedicated to developing interventions and promoting awareness that can improve the lives of individuals and families affected by IPV.
