About me
Richard Gross has worked at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory since 1988 where he is a Senior Research Scientist and, since 2006, the Supervisor of the Geodynamics and Space Geodesy Group. His research interests include Earth rotation, time variable gravity, and terrestrial reference frame determination. He is the lead or co-author of over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles on these topics. In addition, he is the current President of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG). Previously, he was the Vice President of the IAG during 2019-2023, the President of IAG's Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) during 2017-2019, and the President of IAG's Commission 3 on Earth Rotation and Geodynamics during 2011-2015. As the IAG President he is the IAG representative to the United Nations (UN) Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (GGIM) and to the UN-GGIM's Subcommittee on Geodesy. He is passionate about geodesy and about being an advocate for the importance to science and society of geodetic data and products including the global geodetic reference frame.
