About me
Rui Duarte is a senior public affairs professional with over a decade of experience in government affairs, international governance, and cooperation. As a former Member of Parliament in Portugal, Rui served as Rapporteur for Technology Assessment in the Science Committee, where he initiated the pilot project to establish a Technology Assessment Unit towards more evidence-based policymaking.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Political Economy of Europe from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He has extensive experience collaborating with global and regional intergovernmental organizations, including the African Union, the Council of Europe, and the United Nations. Rui has also led global cooperation initiatives with the Pan African Youth Union, Arab League and European Youth Forum during Africa-EU and Ibero-America Heads of State Summits.
As a global youth development worker, he has championed Africa-Europe cooperation efforts and represented youth at the 64th UN General Assembly and the 47th Session of the UN Commission for Social Development.
