BENJAMIN VICTOR ODARI, B.Ed (Sci), MSc (Physics), PhD Physics. Department of Physics, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, P.O. Box 190-50100 Kakamega, Kenya Dr. Benjamin Victor Odari is a Physics Lecturer in Materials Science in the Department of Physics, School of Natural and Applied Sciences. He graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Education in Science (Physics and Mathematics) in 2009 and Master of Science in Physics in 2013 both from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. He obtained his PhD in Renewable Energy in September 2019 at University of Nairobi, Kenya. Part of his PhD research work was done at the Institute of Energy and Climate Change (IEK5), in Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany under the scholarship of DAAD. Dr. Odari is involved in research infrastructure development and capacity building in the area of Materials Science. He is a member & the country representative for Kenya of the African Network for Solar Energy (ANSOLE) https://www.ansole.org/ . He is also a co-founder and treasurer of Materials Research Society of Kenya (MRS-K) https://mrsk.or.ke/ and was an editor of The African Physics Newsletter. He is a journal reviewer for Solar Energy https://www.journals.elsevier.com/solar-energy among others. His current research focuses on characterization of materials and devices for solar energy conversion. Dr. Odari is also carrying out ab initio studies of materials for solar energy conversion using the Quantum Espresso and SIESTA codes and is a collaborator in the project: Study of Photovoltaic Absorbers and Thermoelectric Materials Using Density Functional Theory, and the principal investigator in the project: Magneto-electric devices for future technologies: A DFT Based Study
